Workforce Programs & Incentives
Since its founding in 1963, CPCC has provided comprehensive training and services to meet the job skills and career needs of individuals and those who employ them. Offering custom training to businesses and hundreds of public courses each semester, the College serves Mecklenburg County in our vision to become the national leader in workforce development.
The Incumbent Worker Program provides funding to established North Carolina businesses to provide educational and skills training for current workers. It is designed to benefit businesses by enhancing the skills of employees, thereby increasing employee productivity and the potential for company growth.
OJT provides wage/salary reimbursements to Employers to compensate for costs associated with skills upgrade training and loss of production for newly hired employees.
Charlotte Works is a private, public partnership that brings together market resources and aggregates data on participant skills, education and work history for Charlotte area businesses, recruiters and employers looking for specific talent. Their goal is to grow the local economy by linking companies of all sizes with the most highly skilled, highly educated workforce available. Administers Incumbent Workforce Development Grant and On-The-Job Training Grant programs.
The Employers Association has been providing human resources and training services to organizations in the greater Charlotte, NC area for over fifty years, serving more than 860 member organizations of all sizes and industries, both public and private.
Centralina Workforce Development Board has programs and resources to assist you with reducing your recruitment and training costs, retraining workers in response to changing market conditions, finding qualifies candidates and taking advantage of tax incentives to reduce payroll costs.
ProNet Charlotte is a transition space provided by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Workforce Development Board for displaced Professionals looking to use innovative tools, resources and networking opportunities to advance their job search. Participants span every industry and typically average 15+ years career experience. Short for Professional Network, ProNet is your resource to re-focus, re-direct and re-connect.
The Mayor’s Youth Employment Program provides paid and unpaid internships for at-risk high school seniors to provide them with the opportunity to explore careers of interest before graduation.

These resources and information can help you find, train and retain qualified employees and learn more about how the state operates Workforce Investment Act programs.
North Carolina offers tax credits to eligible companies who, among other things, meet a minimum threshold of new full-time jobs created during the taxable year.
Your business can qualify for tax credits when you hire certain workers. The Work Opportunity Tax Credit and the Welfare-to-Work Tax Credit are federal tax credits that encourage employers to hire targeted groups of job seekers by reducing your federal income taxes.
