Venture Knowledge at Ben Craig Center is a monthly luncheon series designed to strengthen business insights and connections among early stage, innovation-based entrepreneurs.

6 Secrets to Startup Success
John Bradberry, the author of 6 Secrets to Startup Success, will share insights into entrepreneurial success in a highly interactive session. His topics will include limiting factors such as the market opportunity and the entrepreneurial team itself.

In early 2007, John launched an extended study to identify the universal factors that drive new venture success, and to develop tools and applications for entrepreneurs and investors. His research led him to write 6 Secrets to Startup Success, described by Guy Kawasaki as “an excellent summary of what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur. Every person who wants to start the ‘next big thing’ should read Bradberry’s book before taking the leap forward.”

Over twenty years as a business advisor and strategist, John Bradberry has improved the performance of more than a thousand leaders and hundreds of teams. Since 1997, he has led an independent consulting practice focused on helping businesses of all sizes elevate performance and achieve healthy growth. John’s business and consulting career includes First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo) and Kepner-Tregoe working with clients IBM, Merck, Nortel, and Fuji Film.

Who Should Attend?
Venture Knowledge addresses topics that are important to founders, CEOs, and leaders of entrepreneurial ventures from start-up through early years of revenue and employment growth.

The series is designed for Ben Craig Center client-tenants and affiliates. They are always guaranteed a seat. The series is open on a space available basis to leaders of companies that are innovation-based (technology, process, or business model), designed for growth, and seeking to serve markets beyond the Charlotte region.

The Ben Craig Center will give away copies of John Bradberry’s book to five participants in the June luncheon.

When and Where
The 6 Secrets to Startup Success program will be Thursday, June 7, in the Ben Craig Center’s Iverson Room. Sign-in and networking begins at 11:45. The program will begin promptly at 12:00 and end at 1:20. Parking is free.

SMALL BUSINESS MONTH COMES TO CHARLOTTE!

Mayor Anthony Foxx and the Charlotte City Council declared May as Small Business Month at a kickoff event where more than a dozen small businesses were recognized for their contributions to the local economy. “Small Business month provides us an opportunity to stop and recognize the many contributions of the entrepreneurs and small businesses that make Charlotte great, not just by providing needed goods and services, but by driving innovation, creating jobs, and investing in our community,” said Mayor Anthony Foxx.

Small businesses are an essential ingredient to growing and sustaining our economy.
